Press Release

1 February 2010

We are well into the development of the third 10 episode series on "Extraordinary Kiwis" for Prime. As with the earlier series, we are looking at a day in the life of an eclectic mix of Kiwis in their natural habitat, doing the things that make them extraordinary. The show format has changed from the previous series in that it is now anchored by Clarke Gayford. A pilot for EK3 (Clarke in Antarctica working with scientist Victoria Metcalf) was made and shown on Prime earlier this year. If you missed it, visit our shop to acquire a copy on dvd.

Each year Execam invites not for profit organisations to apply for pro-bono work as the company’s way of giving to charity. "We don’t hand out cash,” says Managing Director Jim Greenhough, “instead we offer our equipment, time and expertise which would cost organisations tens of thousands of dollars to buy, thus providing a win-win for everyone.”

This year we are producing two programmes. We are still working on a project for the Prison Chaplaincy Service and have just completed a 25 minute dvd for the Leukemia and Blood Foundation. This dvd will be used as an information resource for people who have been diagnosed with blood disorders and their friends and family.

The Prison Chaplaincy Service of Aotearoa New Zealand works with 3000 volunteers who visit prisons and follow up visits to their homes after release, to provide a wide range of services to prisoners….all aimed at helping them move their lives up a notch or two, so their future lives are not dictated by their past behaviour.

The DVD will be used to inform, recruit and train more volunteers to continue visiting prisons and make a difference in their lives. By showing prison chaplaincy in action, potential volunteers will have a much better understanding of what is involved in prison visitation, and how they can keep themselves safe while providing an invaluable service.

Execam is no stranger to filming in prisons having shot a pilot for the Extraordinary Kiwi Series in the Manawatu Prison, as well as projects for Corrections in several prisons.

Previous recipients of pro bono work from Execam have included:

Asthma New Zealand

Diabetes New Zealand

Victim Support
